Yucca Fries
When you get the root, you gotta make sure you remove all of the membrane that protects the softer, fleshy core. After it’s peeled, cut them however you like, then place them in a pot to boil. I boil lightly for about 10-15 minutes then strain them. I like to mist them with olive oil so they wont stick once strained. Toss them in your fryer, remove, salt, done.
Bought a couple of new knives today!
Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp recipe from Skinnytaste. Shelby found it and I was impressed at how quick and easy it was to make. Super tasty too, I could eat this stuff everyday.

A delicious sandwich Shelby made, inspired by Garnett’s in Richmond, VA. Roast beef, horseradish cheddar, with sautéed mushrooms and red onions. The grilled the sandwiches; the bread was from a loaf I made earlier in the week.
Had a nice dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s in Town Center, Virginia Beach. The food was good, the Cream of Crab soup and Lump Crab cake were the standout dishes of the night.
First to Last: Lemondrop, Calamari “Frito Misto”, Cream of Crab soup, Wild Scallops, Fisherman’s Fried Platter.
After seeing the Leaping Lizard Cafe on television we had to make a trip out to the shop. It’s small and the people are friendly. They grow most of what they cook there and everything else is local. The food was very good and I’m going to make sure to get back when the Blue Crab is in season.
Listed in order: Hummus Appetizer, Winter Puree Of Butternut Squash, Rockfish, Winter Sandwich, Surry Ham and Cucumber Sandwich, Chocolate Ganache, and Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip Cookie.
Recently took my brother-in-law to Public House in Norfolk for lunch. Of course, we had to have the Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots to start. Our entrées were the Public House Burger and Oyster Stew. The Oyster Stew was different than any I’ve had before, but it was delicious. I’m excited about having Shelby try it; if you’re in the area make sure you swing and buy a bowl.
